(Atlanta, GA) – To commemorate the life and legacy of famed community activist and civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Georgia Republican Party Chairman John Padgett, 1st Vice-Chairman Michael McNeely, and Minority Engagement Director Leo Smith issued the following statements:
“Today, we pause to honor one of America’s greatest heroes,” said GAGOP Chairman John Padgett. “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a man of principle, passion, and purpose, and today, our world is a better place because of his courage and resilience.”
“The debt of gratitude that we owe to Dr. King is immeasurable,” said 1st Vice-Chairman Michael McNeely. “With remarkable love and humility, he worked tirelessly to loosen the chains of oppression and hate, and restore the American Dream for future generations to come.”
“As we gather with friends, neighbors, and co-workers to celebrate this important day, we must work to ensure that Dr. King’s legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of us all,” saidGAGOP Minority Engagement Director Leo Smith. “Let us carry ourselves with dignity, working hard to ensure the longevity of freedom, opportunity, and hope for all Americans. Let us always live in a manner that honors the life, love, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”
In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, GAGOP Officers and Staff will attend various ceremonies, parades, and religious services throughout the state.
