On this important and timely holiday, we observe the birthday of Georgia’s own, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
A passionate preacher, gifted orator, tireless activist, and inspiring leader, Dr. King was unwilling to accept the status quo. Through non-violence and a clear, convincing message, he built a groundswell of support that eventually led to the passage of landmark civil rights legislation that guaranteed all Americans equal treatment and equal protection under the law.
While Dr. King’s life was abruptly cut short at a Memphis hotel in 1968, his legacy of service, love, and hope lives on today. By treating all people with dignity and respect, we can pass that legacy on to future generations . By working together for the greater good, we can ensure that Dr. King’s sacrifice was not in vain.
During the New Year, I hope you will join us as we fight for lower taxes, better healthcare, safer borders, and more freedom. Like Dr. King famously said, “the time is always right to do what’s right.”
