(Atlanta, Georgia) – State School Board Member and Minority Engagement Field Director for the Georgia Republican Party, Lisa Kinnemore, recalls the leadership of Governor Nathan Deal during the DeKalb School system crisis in a new online video released by the Georgia Republican Party.
“In early 2013, we faced a crisis in DeKalb County,” said Kinnemore. ”Due to the dysfunction of its board, the school system risked losing its accreditation, putting nearly one hundred thousand students in jeopardy. Something had to be done, and it needed to be done quickly.
“Working with many local leaders who had the courage to step forward, Gov. Deal took the necessary steps to save the system’s accreditation. This March, SACS removed DeKalb County from probation.

“While some people played politics, Governor Deal worked with Republicans and Democrats alike to put our children first. While some people ran and hid, Governor Deal led.
“Georgians are tired of politicians who run for the hills when tough issues arise. The good news is Georgians don’t have to vote for one. We have a leader who makes the tough decisions today so that we have a stronger Georgia tomorrow.”
