GAGOP Statement on the Lieutenant Governor Debate

December 3 @ 8:45 pm

ATLANTA, GA – Following today’s lieutenant governor debate, Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer said the following:

“Burt Jones showed today why he will be our next Lieutenant Governor. He has a record of fighting for Georgia taxpayers and standing up for law enforcement.

“His opponent Charlie Bailey – who was rejected four years ago as a candidate for Attorney General – refused to answer questions about his checkered record as a prosecutor, instead using his time to make false and desperate attacks.

“Georgians will reject Stacey Abrams and Charlie Bailey again on November 8.”

ATLANTA, GA – Following tonight’s debate, Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer said the following:

“Tonight’s debate confirmed what we already knew: Stacey Abrams is out of touch with Georgians and unfit to be Governor.

“While Stacey Abrams has been spreading lies about Georgia on late-night talk shows and at West Coast donor events, Governor Brian Kemp has been showing up for Georgians and undoing the damage of the failed Biden-Abrams agenda.

“Governor Kemp’s strong leadership, exemplified tonight, is one of many reasons why Stacey Abrams will be rejected, again, come November.”

ATLANTA, GA – Following this afternoon’s debate, Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer said the following:

“Today’s debate lifted the mask on Sanford Bishop’s failures.

“Bishop has become little more than a rubber stamp for Biden’s policies that have given us record-high inflation, skyrocketing violent crime and debilitating energy dependence.

“Sanford Bishop has failed the farmers and farming communities of Southwest Georgia. Chris West said it best: It’s time to rotate the crop in our Second District.”

ATLANTA, GA – Following tonight’s debate, Georgia Republican Party Chairman David Shafer said the following:

“Tonight’s debate showed who Raphael Warnock truly is: a relentless leftist whose support of the Biden agenda has given us 40-year high inflation, skyrocketing violent crime, a crisis on our southern border and a world that is less safe.

Herschel Walker is a fighter, and soon, he will fight to right the wrongs of Warnock and Biden’s Democrat Party in the United States Senate.”

Hey there,

Georgia Democrats should win an award for being out of touch.

Raphael Warnock tweeted his support for the Biden administration’s proposal to eliminate student debt, which would be detrimental to our country’s already precarious financial situation.

The Urban Institute found that “most outstanding student loan debt is held by people with relatively high incomes…it is disproportionately concentrated among the well off.”

In fact, erasing all student loan debt would distribute $192 billion to the top 20% of earners in the U.S., but just $29 billion to the bottom 20% of U.S. households.

The average individual among top-earners would receive $5,944 due to student debt forgiveness, while those with the lowest incomes would receive just $1,070; an almost $5,000 difference.

The Federal Reserve estimated that forgiveness of $10,000 per borrower would cost taxpayers an estimated $321 billion.

Currently, Atlanta has the second-highest inflation rate of any city in the country other than metro Phoenix, Arizona.

“Democrats’ proposal to eliminate student loan debt is untenable to anyone who has been paying attention to our country’s current economic crisis. Raphael Warnock and Stacey Abrams are out of touch with everyday Georgians, a fact that will be made clear in November.” – Georgia Republican Party Press Secretary Dani Repass

Hi there,

In case you missed it, despite the state’s record-breaking Primary Election turnout, Stacey Abrams is still claiming Georgia’s voters are suppressed.

Republican turnout is up 96% from Primary Election Day in 2018. Even Democrat turnout increased this year, up 29% from 2018.

Abrams, however, is decrying voter enthusiasm and strangely claimed in an interview Tuesday that there was “no correlation” between record-high turnout and voter suppression.

“Stacey Abrams lacks a quintessential quality that the governor of Georgia should have: integrity. Stacey should admit she was wrong and apologize for spreading lies and disinformation about Georgia’s election laws.” – Georgia Republican Party Press Secretary Dani Repass

In case you missed it, just days after Stacey Abrams qualified to run for governor, a super PAC funded by George Soros reportedly put $1 million into her campaign.

Soros has been known to fund far-left causes, including the defund the police movement and BLM. He has donated so much money to the Drug Policy Alliance, which advocates for decriminalizing all drugs, that he is known as the “sugar daddy of the legalization movement.”

Worst of all, between 2016 and 2020, Soros poured over $25 million into several radical abortion groups, some of which focus on “increasing access to government-funded abortions.

“George Soros’ $1 million donation to Stacey Abrams should come as no surprise – both Soros and Abrams are far-left radicals who do not represent Georgians on any level.” – Georgia Republican Party Press Secretary Dani Repass

In case you missed it, Stacey Abrams used her position as House Minority Leader to secure government-backed contracts for her company formerly known as NOWaccount in 2014.

In 2013, just ahead of applying for and receiving private lender status, NOWaccount’s revenue was just $100,000. Abrams was even touted as a “key manager” on the company’s application.

After the company secured government contracts, they were able to use federal taxpayer dollars to pay off unpaid loans, resulting in a tax burden on Americans across the country.

Abrams claimed to have “walled herself off” from NOWaccount’s government dealings, but the Government Accountability Institute found that she was “an integral part” of securing government-backed loans.

Though NOWaccount’s federally funded loan program ended in 2017, the company has since rebranded as “NOW Corp.” and recently secured $29 million in new financing from two investment groups. Similarly, Abrams’ net worth has increased from $109,000 in 2018 to $3.17 million in 2022.

“Stacey Abrams’ campaign website promises she will “invest in every person,” but her involvement with NOWaccount proves she is only interested in lining her own pockets. Come November, Georgians will ensure Stacey never has another opportunity to use her political status to take advantage of the people again.” – Georgia Republican Party Press Secretary Dani Repass

Stacey Abrams has already admitted she wants to run for president in 2024, but now Georgia Democrats are clearing the path, requesting an earlier date for Georgia’s presidential primary.

An earlier presidential primary date would give Georgia Democrats “greater influence in picking the presidential nominee.”

“Stacey Abrams will never be governor or president and Georgia Democrats’ moving their presidential primary date won’t change that simple fact.”  – Georgia Republican Party Press Secretary Dani Repass
